Dr Emmanuel 'Manny' Pohl joined Hyperion Asset
Management in 1996, and is currently the Managing Director.
Manny has been on the board of a number of
major corporations in South Africa and Australia. He has over
20 years of investment experience, initially with a leading
South African broking firm, followed by a large Australian investment
house.
In 1991, Manny was a member of the South
African delegation to the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors
of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Bangkok.
He was a member of the South African Accounting Practices Board,
until he left South Africa in 1994. Manny is Managing Director
and a substantial shareholder in Hyperion Flagship Investments
Limited and Hyperion Asset Management Limited, a Director of
Global Masters Fund Limited and former Director of the Great
Barrier Reef Research Foundation.
MARK
ARNOLD, Chief Investment Officer and Senior Portfolio Manager CFA, B.Com, LLB, CA, F Fin
Mark Arnold, a CFA charterholder, is a Senior Manager within Hyperion Asset Management. Over the past six years, Mark has played an integral role in the design and refinement of Hyperion’s investment process.
Mark is a qualified chartered accountant and has 15 years experience researching Australian listed companies. Prior to establishing himself in the investment industry, Mark worked for KPMG. He holds undergraduate qualifications in commerce and law.
Mark worked for Wilson HTM Ltd for the period 1996 to 2000 as a banking and insurance analyst. In 1997 he was a key analyst involved in analysing the Suncorp Metway merger. In 1998, Mark was appointed Head of Industrial Research and shareholder of Wilson HTM Ltd. In the same year, he also commenced work as a part-time Fund Manager for Hyperion, managing a group of discretionary mandates. Mark accepted a full time position with Hyperion in 2000. Mark is a substantial shareholder in Hyperion Asset Management.
JOEL
GRAY, Senior Portfolio Manager CFA, B.EC, F Fin
Joel has over 10 years experience in the investment
management industry.
Prior to joining Hyperion Asset Management
in 2001, Joel worked for three years as an Industrial Research
Analyst focusing on the consumer discretionary sector for Wilson
HTM. Previous to Wilson HTM, Joel worked as an Investment Analyst/Assistant
Fund Manager for three years with a Melbourne based fund manager.
Joel is a CFA charterholder and is a
shareholder of Hyperion Asset Management.
JUSTIN
WOERNER, Portfolio Manager CFA, B.Com
Justin, a CFA charterholder, joined Hyperion
Asset Management in August 2004 as an Assistant Fund Manager.
Justin gained four years of industry experience
as a Fund Manager Analyst with a Melbourne based research house.
This role involved him reviewing and rating a wide array of
investment processes offered by some of the country's best-known
fund management companies.
Prior to this, Justin was employed with Macquarie
Bank Limited within its Financial Services Group.
JASON ORTHMAN, Senior Investment Analyst B.Eng (Chemical), B.Bus
Jason has over 6 years experience in the equities industry.
Prior to joining Hyperion Asset Management in 2008, Jason worked with Wilson HTM Investment Group. During his time at Wilson HTM, Jason worked as a senior research analyst within the mid-cap industrial team covering a wide range of sectors including mining services, retail, manufacturing and waste.
Jason has a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (1st class honours), a Bachelor of Business Management and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance & Investment.
JARED POHL, Dealer and Analyst B.Com (Finance), B.IT
Jared joined Hyperion in 2006 and is now the company’s Equities Dealer and Analyst within the Investment Team.
As the company’s Dealer, Jared is responsible for placing and monitoring the execution of portfolio trades across Hyperion’s wholesale mandates in an efficient manner.
His role as Analyst sees Jared working closely with the Portfolio Managers. Jared evaluates broker ideas and makes suitable recommendations to the Hyperion team as well as assisting in the completion of company specific research reports.
